Wants contract before season
Brisbane Broncos halfback Peter Wallace has declared Brisbane his home and intends to secure his future with the Broncos before round 1.
The off-contract halfback will meet his manager Allan Gainey this week to finalise plans for a three-year deal to remain in Brisbane and put an end to the innuendo about his future.
The NSW Origin halfback had been linked to Penrith, Newcastle and potentially Melbourne if, as expected, Cooper Cronk joined South Sydney.
Wallace could command close to $400,000 a season if he went to the open market but his desire to ink a deal before the season starts indicates he is unlikely to seriously test his value elsewhere.
Wallace, second-rower Ben Te’o and winger Gerard Beale are the three biggest names still unsigned by the Broncos for 2013.
The Broncos have made it clear their intention is to retain the current squad.
